Light Vessels

This is part of my contribution to recycled art (I also create recycle copper wind chimes). I love bottles, their color, design and shape. I have crates of them in my backyard. I had wanted to create a bottle wall on the west side of my property to catch the afternoon light and provide privacy from my neighbors. I had a sizable collection piling up. Then I came up with the ideal of creating candle holders and vases. I first began by carving the design into the bottle and then I decide to carve the bottle away from the design, making more of a bias relief look. The result is now what I call, Light Vessels. Put a candle in them and the effect is just fabulous!
